How Our NFL Player Projections Work

Dimers specifically built our NFL player projections hub for sports betting, DFS, and fantasy football. We don’t rely on generic, aggregated data. Our team of data scientists and sports experts builds proprietary models with in-house data and update them daily with fresh inputs.

The volume of NFL data is continually expanding, so we are constantly innovating our methods for projections to unlock more predictive power out of traditional statistics. Our NFL player projections model is actually a family of specialized models, each one with a laser-focused purpose: projecting results for a single stat column. Each individual model combines predictions from other underlying models to produce their single output.

Data Collection & Analysis

Dimers gathers player performance data from every NFL game. We re-engineered this process to power our NFL player projections hub, including adding both PPR and half-PPR fantasy projections for players covered.

We collect the variables behind key NFL player stats, including rushing yards, completions, passing yards, receptions, receiving yards, touchdown scorers, and more.

First, we cover the basics, like a player’s expected usage and historical performance. Then we delve deeper, combining this data with advanced metrics, including those derived from granular play-by-play data.

Position & Matchup Factors

Some NFL teams struggle defending certain positions and offensive schemes. We analyze how opposing defense and coaching tendencies perform against various statistical categories and expected game scripts. This approach provides your DFS lineups and bet slips with a data-backed edge for spotting favorable and unfavorable matchups.

Injury & Lineup Updates

Full contact makes for frequent and severe injuries in the NFL, and teams have deep benches to draw from when rotating positions for different matchups. Our system monitors injury reports, breaking news, or any position shakeup. If a star running back is sidelined, our model will reallocate touches and rushing attempts accordingly. These instant updates keep you ahead of the game when searching for overlooked player prop markets or making start and sit decisions.

NFL Player Projection Use Cases

Betting Strategies for Props and Parlays

Look beyond the NFL player prop lines that the sportsbook set. Inform your bets with reliable data:

  • Pick out player performance trends that impact overs or unders in passing yards, rushing attempts, receptions, and receiving yards.

  • Build smarter multiple-odds wagers by combining our player projections with the NFL parlay picker.

  • React quickly to late-breaking lineup or injury news that shifts point spreads and prop lines.

DFS & Fantasy Optimizations

Our NFL player projections give you an edge when building high-stakes DFS lineups and managing dynasty and keeper rosters for fantasy football.

  • Spot sleepers and low-rostered players on the waiver wire who can outperform expectations.

  • Identify star players worth paying up for in DFS contests.

  • Make smarter start and sit decisions on fringe players and late-round lottery picks in H2H and roto leagues.

Research & Analysis

You choose how you use our player projections data. Veteran managers can create their own weekly fantasy football cheat sheet to decide who to bench or pick up from the waiver wire. Professional bettors who tailor their own systems can download our NFL player projections and use our data sets for correlation studies or building their own prediction models.

Our Coverage & Frequency

Our NFL coverage spans all 32 teams, from superstar quarterbacks to underrated backup running backs and emerging rookie wideouts. Projections are updated throughout the week—and especially when:

  • Breaking injury news changes expected workloads.

  • Depth charts shift to reveal who’s moving up or losing snaps.

  • Official game-day inactives confirm a team’s final lineup.

By staying locked in on official reports, we ensure our NFL player projections remain as fresh, accurate, and actionable as possible.
