Top 5 Super Bowl Cities

While the eyes of the fans at home will be on the action on the field, much of what makes the Super Bowl so good for those in attendance is the atmosphere and party atmosphere that the host city provides in the week leading up to the big game.

The Rams and Bengals are set to do battle in Los Angeles this Sunday in Super Bowl LVI and this year's event venue will be no exception.

But what makes a Super Bowl city so good, and which city is the best? We’ve done the hard yards to determine once and for all, which city is the ultimate NFL Super Bowl host.

Looking to bet on the Super Bowl (be it the halftime show or the actual game)? Well, this is a great place to start, with FanDuel Sportsbook offering new customers 56/1 odds on either team to win!

To do this, we must first set a criteria upon which to judge our host cities. We want a mix of everything from fan experience inside of the stadium, and outside, to the ease of getting around.

The criteria for the Top 5 Super Bowl Host Cities:

🏟 Stadium experience

Don’t worry, we’re getting to all of the extra-curricular activities in just a moment, but fundamentally, if you’re going to the Super Bowl, you want to ensure that the stadium you’re going to gives you the best fan experience possible because let’s face it - you may never get to go to a Super Bowl again. The quality of the stadium counts.

🚊 City Access

Super Bowl is a time for celebration for football fans, maybe with some liquor if you are so inclined. That means that hiring a rental car is not in your future. Being able to rely on a combination of Ubers and public transit is very important during Super Bowl weekend and a bad city transport system can result in huge delays or long trips in getting you where you need to be.

πŸ•ΊπŸ½ Nightlife

Super Bowl parties are often the place to be in the lead up to kick off with celebrities known to travel the country for annual gatherings of decadence and delight over the course of the weekend. While you might not get into any exclusive parties, there will be no shortages of places to mix and mingle with your fellow football fans.

🍽 Food

One of the greatest things about America is how diverse it is, especially when it comes to food. If you’re in Texas, you’re getting barbecue. If you’re in Cali, those burritos will be calling your name. In New Orleans, it’s not out of the ordinary to ask for some Alligator. A good meal at the Super Bowl will be etched in your memory forever.

🏈 Once-In-A-Lifetime Experience

You may never get a chance to go to a Super Bowl again. Hell, it took the Bengals 30 years to get an opportunity again, so make the most of it. Will the host city provide you with a weekend you will never forget?

The Top 5 Super Bowl Host Cities:

5. Houston

We start our host city rankings in H-town. Houston has hosted three Super Bowls in 1974, 2004 and 2017 and it ticks almost all of the boxes as a host city. NRG Stadium was opened in 2002 with most modern conveniences still intact providing a great fan experience. While Houston isn’t the barbecue capital of Texas, there’s still enough good eats in the area to satisfy. Overall, the highlight of Space City is its nightlife. With a thriving Hip-Hop scene, you’ll uncover something you never anticipated.

4. Los Angeles

While Super Bowl LVI will be the first ever Super Bowl at Inglewood’s newly built SoFi Stadium, this isn’t LA’s first rodeo. La La Land has played host to the final game of the NFL season seven times in the past. Good weather, good bars and clubs, good food - there’s not too many things to dislike about LA - except its transit system. If you’re attending Super Bowl LVI, you’ll have an amazing time in the world’s best stadium, but make sure that your hotel is close to the precinct or you’ll spend most of your weekend in an Uber.

3. New Orleans

We never go too long in between Super Bowls in New Orleans, although by the time the next one rolls around the lovely folk of Louisiana will be able to bet on NFL. They’ve hosted 10 in fact, with another one already scheduled for 2025. The Superdome is one of the most famous stadiums in the country with its impressive shape and structure allowing for almost 75,000 fans to pack in and cheer on their team. The Big Easy is also a compact city, allowing for easy mobility around the French Quarter and onto Bourbon St, all accessible via the city’s old style tram cars. With a ridiculously amazing foodie scene, you’re going to go on a culinary adventure - we recommend the Oysters; it’ll change your life.

2. Miami

Will Smith doesn’t make a rap about just any city you know? Miami is special and there’s a reason why it has hosted a record 11 Super Bowls. With beaches that stretch for miles, good vibes headline a party atmosphere across the city during the late-winter where temperatures usually sit around the low 70s. Hard Rock Stadium is ageing a little, now close to 40 years old, but in terms of host cities, it’s hard to miss with the Magic City.

1. Las Vegas

Okay, so we’re cheating just a little bit here because Las Vegas has not yet hosted a Super Bowl - but they will. Sin City has been confirmed as the host of the 2024 decider, and we already know it’s going to be electric. The recently-opened Allegiant Stadium will be the home of Super Bowl LVIII, headlining a weekend that will be epic. From the plethora of casinos, to the amazing food, to the unforgettable nightlife. The first Super Bowl in Vegas is going to be a sight to behold.
