This Weekend's Soccer Best Bets From The English Premier League

We have two Premier League best bets for you to jump on, with Leicester City facing Brighton and Arsenal taking on Manchester United. That second matchup should be especially exciting for soccer fans around the world, as those are two of the biggest brands in the sport. But we're also taking a look at a meeting between Union Berlin and Hoffenheim, as that presents us with a nice opportunity to make some money. Betting on soccer has proven to be very profitable for us in the past, so make sure you keep checking with Dimers to see what we like on the pitch. And keep reading for Prospector Sam's one-of-a-kind insights...

Time to shamelessly sell myself! You see, after a year off from the podcast game, yours truly has decided that it’s time to give this idea another go. What idea, you ask? Well, more or less, the premise for “How To Melt Gold in a Potato” (the worst named podcast of all time) is to find interesting people in the gambling world and pick their brain a bit. This space is littered with interesting people (and boring people, though I’m trying to avoid those), but most of the time all you get out of them is 260 characters worth of sports bets and tips.

So, both because I think people could gain a lot from hearing more about how these people think and because I work from home and get lonely, I brought back the podcast to give it another go. Will it fail again? Who knows? Season 1, as I like to call it, ended because my tolerance for finding guests and the stress involved caused me to give up. This time I feel invigorated by the challenge (until I kill someone for trying to cancel on me, at least), and I still think there’s a void for this type of content in the growing world of sports gambling. I may be wrong, but there’s only one way to find out…

Now finish reading this for some winners then go to Spotify and give it a listen!

If you haven't already, make sure you sign up for DraftKings Sportsbook before these games. If you're a new customer, you can Bet $5 and Get $200 in bonus credit if your pick wins. That gives you the opportunity to take a huge moneyline soccer favorite and get a great payout on them!

Premier League Best Bets for Matchweek 21 - January 21 & 22

Leicester City vs. Brighton: Best Bet

Kickoff: Saturday, January 21 - 10:00AM ET

Based on their performances this year, the rational part of my brain is screaming at me to take Brighton’s team total. Leicester continue to nosedive, having lost every EPL match since the return including a 2-0 last time out to bottom feeders Nottingham, but somehow I just can't talk myself into it. So, instead, we go in a direction that uses logic but also protects us from the little voice in my head telling me that Leicester are going to figure it out this time (don't worry, I have a lot of voices in my head, I’m used to it).

Over 2.5 is priced fairly close to Brighton TT (-122 vs. Even) and I think the protection is warranted here. Leicester are liable to give up two or three themselves, but they’re better defensively at home and Brighton have given up 15 goals on the road this season. If Brighton hit their team total then we’re fine, it gets us most of the way to covering and all we need is Leicester to pitch in a bit. If not, we still have a chance if Leicester finds some form. These two have scored a combined 61 goals through 19 matches, so three should be comfortable, and I can live with the pivot as long as Brighton don't win 2-0 (if they do, I’ll be crying in a corner).

Bet: Over 2.5 (-118, 1.5 units)

Arsenal vs. Manchester United: Best Bet

Kickoff: Sunday, January 22 - 11:30AM ET

I hate everything about this match; from the stupid clubs to the ugly soccer to the teams wildly outperforming my beloved Spurs. It all makes me sick! But, this is also a very important game and one worth watching, so we should take advantage of that if we can, and I think there’s some money to be made.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that these big games in the second half of the season tend to go one of two ways — either shootouts or cagey chess matches. I expect this one to be the latter. Sure, both teams have the offensive acumen to poke some holes in their opponent, but both also play fairly strong defense (United’s record vastly improved after benching the walking liability known as Harry McGuire), and I doubt either wants to expose themselves early. Unless we get a moment of class or a bad mistake, this sets up to be a 1-0 or 1-1 match, and we’re betting Under 2.5 at +124 based on that prediction.

Bet: Under 2.5 (+124, 1.25 units)

Bundesliga Best Bet - January 21

Union Berlin vs. Hoffenheim: Best Bet

Kickoff: Saturday, January 21 - 12:30PM ET

The Bundesliga is back! And, as is standard for the Germans, there should be goals aplenty. These two sides aren't necessarily ones you think of when you think of high-scoring matches the way you would with Bayern or Dortmund, but both have offensive quality and the ability to break defenses. The question becomes which angle to take.

For me, the best route is the riskier one. Hoffenheim are, generally, a better team than they’ve shown this season and their skid into the World Cup break has probably left them grinding their teeth for the last two months. Union also had a rough finish, but their record on the year is still a bit over where they project (fifth as of now) and I’d expect a bit more regression from them long term.

So, as you can guess, we’ll be taking Hoffenham and their team total, which sits at +190 for Over 1.5. Generally speaking that’s a bit more danger than I like to take on, but even in their last four fixtures, where they took a single point, Hoffenheim still managed to score in every game. This team will push for 90 minutes, and I think the price is a bit too long.

Bet: Hoffenheim TT Over 1.5 (+190, 1.25 units)
