Sabres vs. Lightning Best Bets

Thursday, Febuary 23, 2023 - 7:00PM ET

PICK: Sabres at Lightning Over 7 (+110)

The Slumping Buffalo Sabres head down to Florida to clash with the Tampa Bay Lightning in an Atlantic division showdown tonight at Amelie Arena.

The Sabres have stumbled out of the break as they have lost three of five and have slipped down to sixth in the Eastern Conference Wild Card Race.

The Sabres have been one of the most exciting teams to watch this season. Buffalo is the third highest team in the league as they are averaging 3.7 goals per game but they are also allowing 3.5 goals per game, which is ninth most.

On the road this season, the Sabres are 3rd in scoring, at 3.8 goals per game and they are allowing 3.2, which is middle of the pack.

Buffalo also owns the road's fifth best Power Play, at 24% and their Penalty Kill is a respectable 77%. The Lightning seem to be on a collision course with the Toronto Maple Leafs in another first round playoff battle, the only thing that is uncertain is which team will have home ice advantage.

The Bolts ended a two game losing streak as they defeated the Ducks by a 6-1 score on Tuesday night.

Tampa is averaging 3.6 goals per game, which is fourth best in the league and they are allowing 2.9 goals per game, which is in the top half of the league as far as defense is concerned.

At home this season, Tampa averages 4.1 goals per game, which is the best mark in the league, and they allow 2.46 goals per game, which is top five. Their home Power Play is second best, at a lethal 31%, and they Penalty Kill 81%, which is middle of the pack.

This is the third meeting of the season between these two with both games sailing over. Tampa took wins of 5-3 and 6-5, in overtime in November.

In fact, six of the last eight meetings have gone over the total. I like that trend to continue as two of the league's top offenses will go at it tonight.

I don't mind a total of 7 at plus money, so bet Sabres at Lightning Over 7 (+110) at BetMGM
