The Edmonton Oilers look to break a two game losing streak as they visit the Anaheim Ducks tonight at Honda Center.
The Oilers are off a 6-3 loss to the Kings, in Los Angeles, on Monday night. In fact, the Oilers have lost four of their last five games and get a perfect "get right " opponent tonight.
The Ducks are last in the league in many defensive categories, including: goals against per game, shots against per game, high danger scoring chances against per game and expected goals against per game.
Despite the The Ducks being the lowest scoring team at home this season, I still like this game to go over as Jack Campbell has already been confirmed to start in goal for Edmonton. The free agent signee has had a terrible first season with the Oilers.
Jack has a road Goals Against Average of 3.95 and a Save Percentage of .874. I think the Ducks are good for at least a couple goals tonight, which leaves a lethal Oiler offense to do the rest.
Edmonton is averaging 3.5 goals per game on the road this season along with 30 shots per game. This is the second meeting of the season, with the Ducks scoring a 4-3 upset win in Edmonton last month.
The series history also trends to the Over as each of the last six meetings have seen at least seven goals scored. I like that to continue tonight. You can pick almost anybody from the Edmonton roster to eclipse their shot prop.
Instead of going with McDavid or Hyman, I am going to look to Leon Draisaitl. Leon has been inconsistent in the SOG department this season but he has actually performed better on the road than he has at home.
Draisaitl has hit his SOG mark in only seven of 22 home games ,where he averages 2.9 shots per game on 5.3 attempts. On the road, he has hit this mark in 10 of 18 games, averaging 3.6 shots per game on 5.6 attempts. He has also hit this mark in each of his last games against the Ducks, registering shots of five, six and four.
I like Leon to get going tonight, in a fabulous matchup, against a Duck team that is allowing 38 shots per game.
