Oilers vs. Ducks Best Bets

Wednesday, January 18, 2023 - 10:00PM ET

PICK: Tampa Bay Lightning Team Total Over 3.5 (-124)

PICK: Steven Stamkos Anytime Goalscorer (+150)

The hot Tampa Bay Lightning continue their 5 game road trip as they visit the Vancouver Canucks tonight at Rogers Arena.

The Bolts have won 4 games in a row and have scored a total of 19 goals in that span. Their sizzling offense has a great matchup tonight in the Canucks. Vancouver is home after a 5 game road trip, in which they went 1-4.

The Canucks have been one of the worst defensive teams in the NHL this season as they are allowing 3.9 goals per game, which is 2nd worst in the league.

At home this season, the Canucks are allowing 3.8 goals per game and 31 shots per game. Vancouver's goaltenders also hold a league worst .879 Save Percentage. The Canucks have allowed at least 4 goals in 5 of their last 6 games and in 12 of their 19 home games on the season.

The Tampa Bay Lighting average a little over 3 goals per game on the road this season but they have scored 4 in each of their last 2 games. Tampa holds the league's 7th best road Power Play, at 25.7%. This matches up nicely against Vancouver's league worst 67% home Penalty Kill.

These teams met last week in Tampa, which resulted in a 5-4 Lightning win. I don't trust Vancouver's defense to be able to hold this lighting team down. With the chance of Brian Elliot starting in goal for Tampa, I'll back their Team Total over tonight.Steven Stamkos is sitting on 499 career goals and he has only scored 2 goals over his last 12 games.

He had a couple good looks in Seattle on Monday but couldn't get the elusive 500th goal. I have been waiting to back Stammer to get there and tonight is the perfect opportunity.

Stamkos scored in the previous meeting with Vancouver last week and he has goals in 5 of his last 7 games against the Canucks. Stamkos has been firing away as he has totaled 27 shots over his last 6 games.

I'll back Stamkos to score tonight and will also be looking at his Alternate Shot on goal line, if released, so bet Tampa Bay Lightning Team Total Over 3.5 (-124) and Steven Stamkos Anytime Goalscorer (+150) with BetMGM
