Rangers vs. Oilers Best Bets

PICK: Rangers at Oilers Over 6.5 (-130)

PICK: Evander Kane Over 3.5 SOG (+110)

The game of the night in the National Hockey League features the New York Rangers visiting the Edmonton Oilers.

New York is in the middle of a Western Canadian trip as they are off a 6-4 win in Vancouver on Wednesday night.

Their offense is red hot as they have scored 27 goals in their five games since the break.

New York has scored six goals in each of their last three games, which coincides with the addition of Vladimir Tarasenko, who has opened up this offense even more.

The Rangers have also been giving up their fair share of goals, allowing 16 since the break.

I am sure head coach Gerard Gallant would prefer some tighter defensive play but that is not likely to happen tonight as they face the high octane Edmonton Oiler offense.

Edmonton is off a 5-4 overtime home loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night which was their third loss in five games since the break.

The Oilers should continue to bring the offense tonight as they average 3.8 goals per game at home, which is third best in the league.

These teams met in New York in November, a game which might have turned the season around for Edmonton.

The Oilers trailed 3-0 in the third period of that game and rallied for a four goal third en route to a 4-3 win.

I am expecting another high scoring game, and even though the juice is a bit high for my preference, I'll lay it tonight and bet the Over 6.5.

I'm also looking at Edmonton Forward Evander Kane, who just loves to shoot the puck at home.

Kane has eclipsed 4 plus shots on goal in nine of his 13 home games this season, where he averages 4.8 shots on goal on 7.8 attempts.

On the road he has only hit this mark in two of 10 games, averaging 2.3 shots on goal on 4.9 attempts.

Those splits are too tough to ignore so I'll back Evander to go over 3.5 shots, at plus money.

So bet Rangers at Oilers Over 6.5 (-130) and Evander Kane Over 3.5 SOG (+110) at BetMGM.
