Red Wings vs. Islanders Best Bets
PICK: Islanders Win/Under 6.5 (+170)
The slumping New York Islanders host the Detroit Red Wings tonight at UBS Arena.
The Isles are in a tailspin right now as they have lost 6 in a row and 9 of their last 10 games. New York is averaging only 1.6 goals per game during that span.
Uncharacteristically, they are allowing 3.3 goals per game during those 10 games. Due to this losing streak, New York has slipped to 6 points out of a Wild Card spot so they have to start picking up some wins.
While I don't like backing teams on losing streaks, there are times that doing so is warranted, which is what we have tonight.
The Detroit Red Wings are off a 4-3 Overtime win in Montreal last night, against the Canadiens. Tonight will mark Detroit's 3rd game in 4 night but most importantly, it is their last game before the All-Star break.
The Wings don't play again until February 7th. After a big OT win last night, I can see the Wings being flat in this contest as their minds can be on their planned vacations with this time off coming.
The Isles have the Golden Knights on deck tomorrow night before they head out for the break so they will want to pick up a win here going into that game. Ilya Sorokin is confirmed to start in goal for the Isles tonight.
On the season he is 15-16-4 with a 2.44 Goals Against Average and a .922 Save Percentage. On home ice, Sorokin has a very impressive 2.00 Goals Against Average and .933 Save Percentage.
I am not interested in laying the juice on the Isles so I will go with the combo bet of them to win and the game to stay under 6.5 goals and maximize the value in a very very nice spot for a desperate team.
Bet Islanders Win/Under 6.5 (+170) at BetMGM.
