PICK: Detroit Red Wings at Ottawa Senators (+115)

We are nearing March, which means the NHL is about to enter its stretch run and, tonight, two Atlantic Division foes meet as the Detroit Red Wings visit the Ottawa Senators, in the first of back to back meetings in Ottawa.

The Red Wings currently sit three points behind Pittsburgh for the final Wild Card spot in the East. The Senators are seven points out of the final spots and four points behind Detroit.

These two games are huge for both teams, especially Ottawa, but I like the dog in this spot. Detroit is playing great hockey since the break, they are off a 3-0 loss to Tampa on Saturday but they peppered the Bolts with 45 shots.

The Wings are 7-3 over their last ten games, outscoring opponents by a 33-24 count. Detroit has been a solid road team all season as they are 13-10-5, where they average 3.2 goals per game and they allow 3.4.

The Senators have had trouble finding consistency this season, which has continued post break. Ottawa is 4-4 in their eight games since the break. The Sens are 16-12-2 at home, where they average 3.3 goals per game and allow 3.1 goals per game.

This is the third meeting of the season as the previous two games were in the Motor City. The Sens took a 6-3 on December 17th but the Wings responded with a 4-2 win on New Years Eve. I love the way Detroit is playing and I’ll gladly give them a look tonight at plus money.
