Oilers vs. Red Wings Best Bets
Tuesday, February 7, 2023 - 7:30PM ET
PICK: Oilers Team Total Over 3.5 (-125)
The Edmonton Oilers and the Detroit Red Wings begin their second halves to the NHL season as they meet tonight at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
The Oilers currently hold the first Wild Card spot in the West, as they have a two point lead on Calgary and a 3 point lead on Colorado.
They are also just three points behind Seattle for the Pacific Division lead. The Playoff race out West is going to be tight so Edmonton will need to play with a bit more consistency in the second half.
Luckily for them, Evander Kane made his return recently from a gruesome arm injury. Kane adds another element to this already lethal offensive attack. On the road this season, the Oilers are averaging 3.8 goals per game, and the road is where they have the league's best Power Play, at 31%.
The Red Wings are sitting seven points out of a playoff spot in the East. Many thought they would contend for a spot but they have continued to be an inconsistent team. Ville Husso is confirmed to start in goal.
Husso was acquired in a trade with St. Louis and has had an up and down year. Husso has a 3.00 goals against average and .901 save percentage this season. The Wings have been stingy at home as they are allowing 2.9 goals per game, but their Penalty Kill is middle of the pack.
I think the Oilers Power Play can prove to be the difference in getting this team total to at least four goals tonight, so that is what I'll back in this game, so bet Oilers Team Total Over 3.5 (-125) with BetMGM.
