NFL 2021 - Week 9 Betting Trends: What The Hell Just Happened?

Welcome to our weekly article, where we highlight some of the top betting trends identified across the NFL in Week 9 of the 2021 season.

So, that was wild. We had a ridiculous number of upset wins this week, with teasers and parlays all going down the drain across the slate.

But in addition to sitting on the couch and watching about 20 hours of football, this weekend also saw us continuing our love of betting on the NFL, with a couple of trends in particular standing out.

Division leaders crumble in Week 9

Coming into Sunday Night Football, divisional leaders were 2-4 on the day, with the Titans saving them a bit with their win over the Rams. That (upset) victory meant that the divisional leaders finished 3-4 this week, with the Bucs the lone leaders with the bye.

This week's divisional leaders that lost:

Bills (-14.5) 6 - 9 (+800) Jaguars

Raiders (-2.5) 16 - 23 (+140) Giants

Cowboys (-10) 16 - 30 (+400) Broncos

Packers (+7) 7 - 13 (-303) Chiefs

Favorites fail to cover the spread

In yet another trend that highlights the struggles of the faves this week, just 4/10 managed to cover.

This week's favorites that covered:

Colts (-10) vs. Jets

Patriots (-3.5) vs. Panthers

Dolphins (-4) vs. Texans

Chargers (-1.5) vs. Eagles

NFL Week 9 Underdog Winners

Jaguars (+800) vs. Bills

Falcons (+235) vs. Saints

Giants (140) vs. Raiders

Browns (+115) vs. Bengals

Broncos (+400) vs. Cowboys

Cardinals (+210) vs. 49ers

Titans (+280) vs. Rams
