NFL 2021 - Week 1 Betting Trends: Underdogs and the Under dominate Week 1 NFL betting

Welcome to the first week of our new feature, where we highlight some of the top betting trends identified across the NFL in Week 1 of the 2021 season.
It all kicked off with an awesome Thursday Night Football clash between the Cowboys and the Bucs before we got an action-packed Sunday and an early contender for game of the season on Monday Night Football.
But in addition to sitting on the couch and watching about 20 hours of football, this weekend also saw us able to bet on the NFL once again, with a couple of trends in particular standing out.

Underdogs were 11-4 against the spread in NFL Week 1
Underdogs covered with ease across the board in Week 1, with the biggest cover coming from the Saints (+3.5), who covered by 38.5 points when they took down the Packers 38-3.
Other notable covers from underdogs included the Eagles covering by 29.5 points against the Falcons, the Texans covering by 19.5 points, and the Steelers covering by 13.5 over the Bills.
Dogs at the moneyline was a money maker in Week 1
Although the most popular bet in the NFL continues to be the above-mentioned spread, the biggest winners this week were those that backed in the 'dogs at the moneyline!
Nine of the sixteen winners in Week 1 entered their games as underdogs, with the longest winning odds coming from the Steelers who took down the Bills at juicy +240 odds.
