March Madness Picks Monday April 4, 2022

North Carolina vs. Kansas, 9:20PM ET

First off I want to start this write up with a big “Fuck You” to the NCAA for starting the National Championship so late on a weeknight. What the fuck are we doing guys? I get that you want to make it viewable for everyone across the country, but I also have to show up for work tomorrow. Put this game on Sunday at 7 and everyone will be much happier.

As for the game itself, this one is actually a pretty comfortable pick for me. I love the Jayhawks. I’ve been high on them since the beginning of the tournament (my pick for National Champion, no big deal), and they’ve been consistently solid at every step, much like they were for all of the 2022 season. UNC, while riding hot, have had times this year where they completely imploded and that’s a dangerous team to trust.

But, aside from general conjecture, the specifics of this matchup also back that pick. Bacot sprained his ankle on Saturday night, which is a huge problem considering he’s one of the top players in the country. That will hurt the Heels down low, but it’s also going to give Kansas a little more flexibility to defend the 3 ball, which is the real reason UNC has made it this far. The Jayhawks are already stellar in that area, sitting 26th in the country in opponents three point percentage, and their ability to limit UNC’s threes will be the decisive factor in this game. Kansas has their flaws, notably their heavy percentage of 2 point shots, but as long as their defense holds up they should handle this game. I think they do, and I expect Kansas to lift the trophy.

PICK: Kansas -4 (-110 odds)

DimersBOT probability: 49%
