The Carolina Hurricanes look to break a four game losing streak as they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets for the second time in six days.

The Canes lost that game by a score of 4-3 in overtime after leading 3-2 in the 3rd. In Carolina’s most recent game, they suffered a 5-3 home loss to New Jersey, a game in which they led 3-1 late in the 2nd period.

I am expecting the Hurricanes to play like a desperate team tonight, starting right from the first period. Max Pacioretty finally made his season debut last week and he has made an impact as he’s scored three goals, including two against this Blue Jacket team in Saturday’s loss.

The Canes could also get goaltender Freddy Andersen back tonight so I’m sure they will look to ease him early and limit any Columbus opportunities. I’ll take the Canes to win the first period, at a plus money price.

I am also going to add Carolina to eclipse their team shot on goal prop. Carolina is averaging 35 shots per game on the road this season, which is second most in the league.

The Blue Jackets are allowing 35 shots per game at home this season, which is third most in the league. Carolina peppered Columbus with 42 shots on Saturday and have shot totals of 42, 43 and 50 over the last three meetings.

The Tampa Bay Lightning were in a similar situation when they faced Columbus on Tuesday night and the Jackets allowed Tampa to get out to a 2-0 1st period lead and ended up allowing 46 shots on goal.

I am looking at the Canes to have the same kind of performance tonight in a game they want to have.
