Flyers vs. Sharks Best Bets
Thursday, December 29, 2022 - 10:30PM ET
PICK: Philadelphia Flyers at San Jose Sharks Over 6 (-124)
PICK: Tomas Hertl Over 2.5 SOG (+114)
The Philadelphia Flyers return from the break to take on the San Jose Sharks tonight at the SAP Center.
Both of these teams have struggled this season and both will be part of the draft lottery after the season, with Phenom Connor Bedard being the top prize.
I am going to keep this play really simple and target the Over 6 tonight. The Flyers were dealt a tough blow as Carter Hart was placed on injured reserve yesterday and will most likely miss at least a week.
That leaves rookie Samuel Ersson to get his 2nd career start. His first one didn't go too well as he got pulled in the 2nd period after allowing 5 goals on 22 shots against the Hurricanes on Friday night.
The Sharks have had goaltending issues themselves this year as they will go to Kaapo Kahkonen tonight. Kaapo has been terrible on home ice as he has a .860 Save Percentage and a 3.90 Goals Against Average.
In 9 overall starts since November 1st, Kahkonen has allowed 35 goals, an average of 3.9 per game, and that includes a shutout mixed in. On the road this season, where Overs are 9-9, the Flyers are averaging 2.5 goals per game and allowing 3.4 per game.
At home this season, where Overs are 13-5, the Sharks are averaging 3.1 goals per game and allowing 3.9 per game.
The goal lamp should be on overload tonight in this matchup.I am also going to add Tomas Hertl to eclipse his shot on goal prop tonight. After a very slow start, Hertl has increased his production recently.
Hertl has hit this mark in 9 of his last 12 games, averaging 3.8 shots per game on 5.1 attempts per game. Tomas has also hit this mark in each of his last 3 home games, totaling 16 shots on goal on 21 attempts.
He draws a nice matchup tonight as the Flyers are allowing 9th most shots on goal amongst road teams, at 33.8.
Bet Flyers at San Jose Sharks Over 6 (-124) and Tomas Hertl Over 2.5 SOG (+114) BetMGM.
