Chelsea vs. Everton - Pick of the Day

As far as legitimate English clubs go (assuming you choose to acknowledge Chelsea as anything but a raging pile of garbage, which I often don’t), these two fan bases are probably having the least fun right now.
Chelsea got stuck in no man’s land last year because of a little issue involving their very rich owner and Russia trying to conquer another country, which forced a sale of the club.
Even with that sorted, things haven’t improved much as Romelu Lukaku departed and they somehow kept losing their signings to Barcelona and their fake money scheme.
Everton, meanwhile, just suck. They legitimately could have been relegated last year, and one of their only bright spots, Richarlison, was sold to Spurs this summer (thank you, kindly). Basically, neither side is filled with happy campers.
Admittedly, things aren’t all bad for Chelsea, having qualified for the UCL and picking up a couple of solid signings (including Raheem Sterling), and they’re rightfully a decent favorite here.
But, while I think they do manage to find at least one goal, I’m not confident they can keep Everton off the board. Early season games tend to be a bit more erratic as teams find their feet and fitness, which will cause some issues for the Londoners.
On top of that, Antonio Rudiger departed in the offseason meaning they’ll be working out a new defensive arrangement, a challenge that will cause some shakiness early on.
So, while Everton scoring is a bit of a scary ask against Thomas Tuchel’s horribly boring tactics, I think the match-up sets up well enough for the home side to find a goal.
Both teams to score is priced fairly nicely at -116, and I’d have expected it to be closer to -140 based on the talent in these two sides. At almost standard odds, I’ll gladly take a crack.
