EPL 2021/22 Week 16 Soccer Picks and Predictions

Prospector Sam is here with your free soccer picks for this weekend's English Premier League soccer action.

If you weren’t paying attention, you missed out on the best and most successful combination since PB&J last weekend (fun fact: I actually don’t like PB&J, but that’s neither here nor there). While I’m more of a lone wolf who doesn’t do crossover work (probably because nobody can stand me for too long), a friend and fellow Dimers creator Punter Phil reached out last week about putting our brains together and making the Prospector-Punter Parlay (aka PPP) to help the people win some extra cash. Four picks, each somewhere in the -150 to +125 range, and all four of those bastards hit on our first try.

I’m not here to say we’re going to be winning +1100 parlays every time (if we were, I would be retired and playing golf), but it’s important to recognize a good idea when it comes along. Phil and I both know our soccer and looked around to find our four favorite bets for the weekend, which spanned four different Leagues, and we came up with a big winner that helped out more than a few people for absolutely no cost. So, for those of you looking for ways to make a few more bucks aside from religiously following my every pick as gospel, go check out the second iteration of the PPP on Thursday or Friday so you can make some extra cash with Phil and I. Solid picks, for Free.99!

Enough with the sales pitch, though, time for some winners ⤵️

Aston Villa vs. Liverpool, Sat Dec 11, 10:00am (ET)

Let’s talk facts. As of this very moment, Liverpool have not played a single game all season where they failed to score a goal. They’re 23/23 in that category, which is some valuable information when it comes to expectations for how this game could play out. Why do I emphasize that? Well, when you consider that Liverpool are almost certain to score at least one, the odds on BTTS become pretty heavily tied to whether their opponent can find the back of the net, which simplifies a bet that usually has two influential factors. And, while Liverpool are fairly strong defensively, Villa have turned their season around dramatically since they transitioned to new coach Stephen Gerrard and are scoring goals. Oh, and Gerrard also happens to be one of the most beloved figures in Liverpool history, which adds a little extra flair to this tie. I don’t have a lot of faith that the Villains come into Anfield and win this match based on the fairly wide gap in talent, but this team is adjusting to new tactics well and finding more goals than they were early in the season when they appeared to be struggling with the loss of Grealish. I think Villa manage to find a goal here themselves, and at -132 I think the odds are solid for that risk. Go with both teams to score in what should be a fun match to watch (aside from having to see Liverpool likely win. That part sucks).

⛏️ PICK: Both teams to score - YES (-132)

Norwich vs. Man United, Sat Dec 11, 12:30pm (ET)

Time to get weird. And by weird I mean pick on Norwich, which I have absolutely no problem doing because I strongly dislike them. Why? Because their colors are atrocious, and their mascot is a bird (Yes, Spurs do have a bird mascot. Spurs also make my heart hurt on a biweekly basis, so I stand by my statement). United are going to win this game and win it handily. With the hiring of Ragnick this team is going to improve dramatically, and they have so much offensive talent it hurts. While their inconsistency and defensive record has caused a lot of issues for them this season, against a side as inept as Norwich, who lead the league with 31 goals conceded through 15 games, United should be able to put up at least 2 if not more. And because I think they’re close to a coin flip to make it past the two goal mark, I’m going to take a shot at their team total which has a ton of value at +180 for over 2.5. While United may struggle a bit with tired legs due to a midweek fixture, this team can hurt you with international talent all over the pitch, and Norwich couldnt even stop my lowly spurs from putting 3 in the back of the net. This game is one that the Canaries likely know they’re going to lose, and once United break them for a goal the wheels could come off pretty quickly. Take United to go for 3+ at a high payout in this match.

⛏️ PICK: Man Utd Team Total OVER 2.5 (+180)

Burnley vs. West Ham, Sun Dec 12, 9:00am (ET)

My favorite, but also least favorite, Dimers employee is a West Ham fan so it hurts me to stroke his ego by betting on the Hammers. I can just see the smug smile on his face right now and it makes me sick, but the Hammers are a solid bet to win this game and the value is right for the money at +100. West Ham just beat Chelsea, an impressive feat in itself, but their consistent success over the course of the year is more telling. They sit 4th almost half way through the season with a +9 GD and have wins over 2 of the top 3 teams in the table. Admittedly, they sit below those teams because they have a habit of producing poor results against teams they should handle, but Burnley are so inept right now it feels unlikely we run into that issue here. Burnley just lost to a Newcastle team who hadn’t won a game all season and their typical strength, a disciplined back line that’s hard to break down, has decided not to show up in 2021. Dyche may be able to get this team back on track in the long run, but West Ham have a ton of offensive talent and keeping them off the board is going to be a very difficult task. I think the Hammers likely put up a couple, and Burnley, who have only scored multiple goals 3 times all season, likely don’t have the quality to keep up. At a 1:1 payout for West Ham in a game they should win, I like these odds a lot and I’ll be putting down a sizable bet on it.

⛏️ PICK: West Ham moneyline (+100)
