College Basketball Best Bets for Tuesday, November 8

Purdue Boilermakers vs. Milwaukee Panthers - 6:30PM ET

Purdue opens the season with a game against a new-look Milwaukee squad that's coming off a 10-22 season last year. The Panthers featured former 5-star recruit Pat Baldwin Jr., and still couldn't muster a winning record. New coach Bart Lundy takes over this season, and this year's team returns just one of their top six players in terms of minutes played last season/

Purdue lost a lot of talent, but the still have the monstrous Zach Edey - the largest player in the sport. His game brings back shades of Yao Ming with his touch around the basket and his unmatchable frame. No one on Milwaukee will have an answer.

Milwaukee finished last season ranked 335th in the country on Kenpom. In the Matt Painter era at Purdue, they have won by 26 or more points in 21 of the 24 games they have played against KenPom teams ranked in the 300s. We like a Boilermaker blowout here.

BET: Purdue -25.5 (-120) at DraftKings Sportsbook

Providence Friars vs. Rider Broncs - 6:30PM ET

Providence was deemed "the luckiest team in the country" for much of last season, as they won a string of close game after close game for months down the stretch. This year, Ed Cooley's squad returns just one starter (Jared Bynum) and just two players from their nine-man rotation. This will look and feel like a team going through some changes, because they are!

On the other side is Rider, who is no slouch. In five games against top 100 teams last season, four of them were decided by single digits. The Broncs return four starters from an experienced group, including leading scorer Dwight Murray Jr.

With all the new faces for Providence, we'll side with the team with more continuity that has proven they can play good teams close.

BET: Rider +13.5 (-110) at DraftKings Sportsbook

Mercer Bears vs. East Carolina Pirates - 7:00PM ET

Given the boring slate, we move to Mercer vs. East Carolina, which won't be the prettiest game in college basketball history but it pays all the same!

East Carolina loses a ton from last year's team, including star guard Tristen Newton who is now the starting point guard at UConn. They have a new coach in Mike Schmitz, and will be transitioning both style of play and personnel heading into this game.

Mercer on the other hand returns five different players who started nine games or more last season, including two double digit scorers in James Glisson and Kamar Robertson. The Bears are almost 100 spots higher on Kenpom than ECU, and that's enough for me.

BET: Mercer ML (-115) at DraftKings Sportsbook
