College Basketball Best Bets for Tuesday, December 6

Texas Longhorns vs. Illinois Fighting Illini - 7:00PM ET

The first game of the Jimmy V Classic tips off in Madison Square Garden with a combo of orange-wearing quality teams with Final 4 hopes. Texas has been the better side thus far this season, and for good reason. With wins over Creighton and a blowout vs. Gonzaga, there are many experts who believe the Longhorns are the best team in the country.

At 6-2, Illinois is a threat, but they have faltered against their best opponents this season with a loss at Maryland over the weekend and a loss to Virginia Thanksgiving week. Both teams play plenty of wing-heavy lineups, so we think the difference will come from the backcourt, where Texas' combo of Marcus Carr and Tyrese Hunter has the advantage.

BET: Texas -2.5 (-110) at DraftKings Sportsbook

Wisconsin Badgers vs. Maryland Terrapins - 9:00PM ET

This is one of the classic home team trap spots to be careful with. Maryland, who is undefeated on the season, looks like a threat to win the Big Ten under new coach Kevin Willard. They have played a bit above their weight class thus far, but it's hard not to be impressed. Now they head on the road to the Kohl Center to take on a Wisconsin team that looks very vulnerable.

Wisconsin lost at home last week to an average Wake Forest team, but home losses are unusual for the Badgers. Going back the last three seasons, Wisconsin is 7-2 in their first home game following a loss at the Kohl Center. We like that trend to continue tonight, as Wisconsin at home strikes again.

BET: Wisconsin -1.5 (-110) at DraftKings Sportsbook

Duke Blue Devils vs. Iowa Hawkeyes - 9:30PM ET

This game should be a highly entertaining affair, as Iowa's high-powered offense faces Duke's phenom freshmen. Kyle Filipowski vs. Kris Murray is one of the best individual matchups of the young season. Something has to give in this matchup, as Iowa is likely to win the turnover battle (the Hawkeyes are 1st in the country in avoiding turnovers) and Duke is likely to exploit Iowa's defensive rebounding by attacking the offensive glass (Duke is 2nd in the country in offensive rebounding).

Iowa played great in their biggest game of the season thus far - an 83-67 win over Seton Hall on the road. We believe the Hawkeyes' offense is up for the task in the bright lights of Madison Square Garden, and we'll side with the team with the best player on the floor, Kris Murray, tonight.

BET: Iowa +3 (-110) at DraftKings Sportsbook
