College Basketball Best Bets for Saturday, January 7

Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers - 12:00PM ET

The two lowest ranked teams in the Big Ten are set to square off at the Barn, and both squads could certainly use a win, as they won't get many in this league. Despite being grouped together often, one side is very clearly the better side here, and it is the visiting Cornhuskers.

Minnesota is 0-7 this season against top 150 opponents. They have played one possession games against middling cupcake programs like Western Michigan and Chicago State. Nebraska, meanwhile, is 6-0 against non-top 100 teams on the year. They beat Creighton on the road and blew out a talented Iowa squad last week. If the Cornhuskers play their A-game, they should win this game comfortably.

BET: Nebraska -3.5 (-110) at DraftKings Sportsbook

Wisconsin Badgers vs. Illinois Fighting Illini - 1:30PM ET

There is no more broken team in sports than Illinois right now. Freshman point guard Skyy Clark announced yesterday he is leaving the program, and there are plenty of rumors that more negative news is on the horizon for the Fighting Illini. With so many question marks regarding health, chemistry and potential suspensions all surfacing, it's worth remembering that for the last month prior to these developments, Illinois has been horrible.

Wisconsin enters this one as an underdog, but we aren't sure they should be. The Badgers are 2-0 on the season in away games, with wins at Marquette and at Iowa. The Badgers have won six straight games, and are much more trustworthy than Illinois, take the points.

BET: Wisconsin +6.5 (-110) at DraftKings Sportsbook

Pittsburgh Panthers vs. Clemson Tigers - 4:00PM ET

We cannot believe we are saying this, but for the second time this week, we are backing Pitt to cover. Their form lately has been too good to ignore. The Panthers have won 10 of the last 11 games, including back to back home games against some of the best teams in the ACC in North Carolina and Virginia. We are buying the Panthers as legitimate contenders in this conference.

Meanwhile Clemson and head coach Brad Brownell have taken a team that isn't ranked in the top 50 in either offense or defense to a 12-3 record early in the year. Clemson has won four straight, but this is their third road game in four games and they may be feeling some effects from the travel. We like the home team to cover.

BET: Pittsburgh -2.5 (-110) at DraftKings Sportsbook
