A football weekend in the life of a sports betting intern
Dimers intern Derrick Inabinett walks you through the life a sports betting intern as he navigates the betting landscape of a football weekend.

In just a few weeks you’re going to wake up on a Friday morning with crisp fall air and the thought of sitting on your couch all weekend watching football will get you through your boss asking you to join a meeting at 3pm.
Football season is a big season for bettors and of course, the Sportsbooks too. Some bettors are so gifted during this season, they have enough winnings to roll over until next season without wagering again. Every sportsbook app needs football season for the revenue that will carry them until next season, utilizing exclusive sportsbook promos to reel in new users every week. Again -the majority of sportsbooks' revenue on a year-to-year basis is generated from football season.
On the flipside, football can generate plenty of money for your bankroll, but if you’re not careful you can fall behind on winnings and fall leaves can easily turn into fall regrets.
Let’s go through how I navigate football weekends and hopefully you tag along to make your football betting a bit more enjoyable.

Funds Fridays
On a Friday, I take a look at the weekend holistically.
I identify not only bets that look great, but where I can find “cracks” in lines that are posted. One way I tackle this is by looking at Dimers Pro. Their models are great for finding bets that can give you an upper hand each weekend.
A specific feature I love using is the NFL Predictions and College Football Predictions. Predictions are generated using 10,000 simulations, providing data-backed results and give me a high level idea of what bets I’m going to take throughout the weekend.
Then, I’ll take some college football bets from those predictions and play them for games on Friday night. If they win, now I have funds to stretch into the weekend without having to deposit more money. When using this strategy, I tend to stick with straight bets for a higher chance to increase bankroll.

Alternate Spread Saturday
Saturday mornings when I wake up I’m doing two things: making an alternate spread parlay and looking for a straight bet to win the parlay money back.
Plenty of bettors every Saturday betting college football go for the 10 leg spread/moneyline Hail Mary parlay to buy their dream car Monday morning. Of course a few may win but the majority fail.
Instead of taking parlays with legs close to even odds, I make an alternate parlay where odds are probably -800 and up. For example, when Idaho State plays UNLV in Week 0 they are a 25.5 point underdog. Instead of taking the almost even line at +25.5, I would take an alternate spread somewhere around +48.5. Combine that with 10-15 alt spread legs with similar odds then watch the magic play out as you now have a greater chance of winning the parlay.
Anytime a leg looks like it will lose, hedge that leg to win money back. To find the best straight prop for that day I go on Dimers Pro.
This time, I’ll look at the College Football Best Bets or Best Props tab and find college football. From there, whatever prop or bet has the highest edge and trending upwards I’ll then play.
Sack the QB Sundays
Sundays are for one of the best player prop in all of sports betting: NFL sacks.
This player prop is in a league of its own as it’s a rare prop you can win in five different ways. One sack, half a sack (depending on the book), stripping the ball away from QB while passing, touching a QB who fell down trying to pass with ball in hands, or running the QB out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage while passing will all win this prop bet.
Throughout the day leading to NFL kickoff, I’m searching for the best players to win this prop bet based on snap count, offensive schemes, and tendecies.
Instead of putting in hours of effort for touchdown props that are either "in or out' to win, give yourself more opportunities to win a prop with sacks.
Weekend wrap-up
There are thousands of ways to take on your football weekends. No single way is guaranteed to win money but utilizing different methods to give yourself the highest chance to win is important.
So before you make multiple bets on a wing and a prayer, take advantage of betting tools like the ones in Dimers Pro and lean on data in your decisions.
Football is back– have fun, bet responsibly, and let’s go win some bets.
